Co-Op/Internship Programs:

Emerald Construction Company has three goals for the co-op/internship programs:
1. To offer a quality, educational, and hands-on opportunity for students to experience the construction industry;
2. To assist the construction industry in acquiring college-educated individuals;
3. To eventually employ successful co-op students in our company upon graduation.

Emerald Construction Company supports the following co-op and internship programs: Virginia Tech, University of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University, Old Dominion University, University of Dayton, Pennsylvania State University, Purdue.

Emerald works closely with the universities in tailoring the program to best meet the student's needs. The student learns and practices take-off and the design/build process by working closely with our Estimator. Our Project Managers guide the student in learning how to manage a project using the Expedition software program for clear and concise communication with Owners, subcontractors, etc. Finally, our Superintendents work with the student "in the field", teaching valuable insight into actually getting a building constructed. Throughout the course of the program, the student learns being "CLIENT-DRIVEN", providing solid communication, being attentive to detail, and adhering to construction schedules and budgets are the keys to a successful project.

By being a medium-sized company, the student is exposed to all aspects of the construction business. This personalized approach offers "hands-on" and "muddy-boots" experience.
